Diversity: Communicating Effectively
As the U.S. population has become increasingly diverse, so has the workplace, including corrections. To succeed in a multicultural society, each facility or agency must value the differences between diverse populations, respect the individuality of all staff and offenders, and maintain an environment in which everyone is treated with dignity. Diversity: Communicating Effectively will make you more aware of the ways we can offend others; help you recognize blind spots; provide you with ways to avoid verbal, social, and written mistakes; help you learn how to talk about your differences and your similarities; and give you new ways to deal with and relate to people.
