ACA conducts two conferences a year: a Winter Conference in January and the annual Congress of Correction each August. During these conferences, we present approximately 150 intensive training sessions and workshops. The Professional Development staff work with the Program Planning Committee and the Review Committee to select a variety of workshops that will appeal to the needs and interests of ACA's members and conference attendees. ACA is committed to providing its members with quality programs for both the Winter Conference and the Congress of Correction. Throughout the year, we solicit workshop proposals that are interesting, challenging and useful to our members. We are looking for workshops that:
- Are relevant to a cross section of corrections administrators, managers and line staff;
- Represent best practices in the fields of adult prisons and jails, juvenile corrections and detention, community institutional and community-based programs;
- Examine contemporary issues that correctional staff are dealing with in the areas of: technology, health care, staff safety, security, facility maintenance, legal issues, leadership and staff training, drug-related issues, etc.; and
- Present practical information that participants can use on the job.
