History
The American Correctional Association (ACA) along with the National Institute of Justice surveyed corrections professionals to identify their training needs. The overwhelming response for online training encouraged the Association to add e-learning to its training programs, which include workshops and self-instructional courses.
Mission
The mission of the Academy is to offer high-quality and accredited online education and training for all corrections professionals. The Academy’s purpose is to promote the professional development of individuals working in all aspects of the corrections field by:
Providing accredited online education and training to use toward in-service and pre-service training;
Offering training hours, college credits, continuing education units (CEUs), and continuing medical education units (CMEs);
Providing challenging curricula;
Serving correctional agencies as well as individuals with online education and training; and
Designing custom-built courseware to meet agencies’ needs.
The Academy is dedicated to helping busy adults achieve career success in today's ever-changing corrections job market.
