Position Description:

The coordinator provides overall support to the Office of Correctional Health (OCH) in the areas of health and treatment programs charged with improving the conditions of correctional health issues that include: medical, dental, mental health, and substance use disorders. Works closely with OCH Health Specialists and Director to advance correctional health issues through collaboration and partnership with corrections professionals and correctional agencies. The coordinator works closely with other ACA department staff members to advance communication and information dissemination through conference calls, webinars, newsletters, and websites or social media. Participates in relevant programmatic meetings, coalition, and networking activities.

 

 

Essential Job Functions:

The coordinator supports the following functions of the Office of Correctional Health in the areas of behavioral health and treatment programs such as:

  • Provides standards interpretation on treatment-related topics,
  • Maintains accurate records of treatment expected practices,
  • Provides support to the whole correctional health certification program by maintaining health certification records and responding to inquiries about the certification process,
  • Provide logistical assistance to correctional professionals in obtaining and maintaining correctional health-related certifications and updating certification records,
  • Provides support for OCH technical assistance activities across Health Care programming, including data analysis related to correctional health projects,
  • Edits drafts of health-related documents before publication,
  • Reviews and updates website to ensure that the correctional health webpage is accurate with the leading edge in correctional healthcare information and topics,
  • Provides support to ACA’s members through responsive and innovative messaging of current successes and challenges,
  • Provides meeting and conference support including tracking registrations, following-up on travel logistic support, ensuring materials dissemination, etc.
  • Proposes ideas regarding health issues training and assists with the development of curriculum and coordination of the sessions,
  • Coordinates dissemination of healthcare information to members,
  • Researches correctional health-related companies that do not advertise or exhibit with ACA and provides company names and contact information for direct marketing and selling.
  • Provides standards interpretations and develops and maintains records relating to standards and accreditation business.
  • Researches funding opportunities for the Association including federal, state, and local government grants, private companies, foundations, and other entities.
  • Plans and contributes through research, writing, or other means to grant/funding proposals for the Association.
  • Other duties as assigned

 

 

Required Qualifications

  • Be legally able to work in the U.S.
  • An undergraduate degree in a healthcare-related field
  • Minimum of one years of work experience in related to Correctional or Public Health

·         Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential job functions

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Must be highly organized and detail oriented
  • Must be able to multi-task and set priorities
  • Must be able to work with minimum supervision

Pay and Benefits

$48,000 - $52,000 per year

Salary is negotiable and based on education and experience.
