Thank you to all who attended the 2023 Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida. The Winter Conference kicked off Friday January 27th with the Health Care Welcome Reception which was standing room only. Saturday began with a special Staff Wellness Plenary Session on Generational Differences in the Workplace and featured the Health Care Special Session and Luncheon with Brendan Saloner, as the keynote speaker. Over the weekend, approximately 195 agencies and programs sought accreditation. On Sunday evening, the exhibit hall opened at 2 p.m. with a reception and open house. Monday morning, the General Session featured actor and writer Henry Winkler and the swearing in of the 108th President of ACA. In addition, the Merit Award was given to Correctional Officer Amy Cunningham (MD) and the Peter Lejins Award was given to Dr. Leanne Alarid (TX). Finally, Tuesday wrapped up the conference with a special auditor training session, and a crowded exhibit hall featuring the grand prize drawing at 12:45 p.m. The grand prize was cash and runners up won I-Pads. During the conference, attendees could learn the latest in correctional techniques and research at more than 100 workshops following tracks on reentry, health care, ACA resources, staff development and training, juveniles, security, special offenders, facility design, and other timely topics, with CE’s, CME’s, CEU’s or continuing education hours from the American Psychological Association for correctional psychologists. In addition, ACA’s committees, councils, chapters and affiliates held their respective meetings Saturday through Tuesday. The conference ended at the close of the Delegate Assembly meeting on Tuesday January 31st.
